Empowering Rural Entrepreneurs in Parakadeniya and Kahatavita

As part of a holistic livelihood support initiative, grocery items, Juki sewing machines, and livestock (goats and cows) were provided to small-scale entrepreneurs and vulnerable families in Parakadeniya (Kurunegala) and Kahatavita (Gampaha). This multi-faceted effort focused on women-led households, daily wage earners, and youth entrepreneurs, aiming to create sustainable income streams through small retail, tailoring, and animal husbandry. The distribution of Juki sewing machines empowers women to start or expand tailoring businesses from home, while the provision of livestock such as goats and cows promotes self-sufficiency through dairy and farming activities. By supporting diverse forms of entrepreneurship, this initiative plays a crucial role in building economic resilience at the grassroots level, promoting self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable growth within rural communities.

Donation of Pillows, Mattresses, and Mosquito Nets to Wathupitiwala Hospital

Supporting Patient Care and Comfort In a heartfelt effort to uplift healthcare standards and improve the comfort of patients, a special donation of pillows, mattresses, and mosquito nets was made to Wathupitiwala Hospital. This initiative aims to provide much-needed relief and dignity to in-patients, particularly those in the general and long-term care wards, many of whom face daily challenges due to overcrowding and limited resources. These essential items will significantly enhance patient rest and recovery while helping to prevent mosquito-borne illnesses—especially important given the rise in dengue and related health threats. The official handover ceremony took place in the presence of hospital administrators, medical officers, nursing staff, and community representatives. Expressing gratitude, the hospital management acknowledged the donors’ valuable contribution and emphasized the importance of continued community partnerships in strengthening public healthcare services. This act of kindness not only improves hospital conditions but also stands as a reminder that compassion and collective responsibility are key pillars of a healthy society.
